We truly believe that God has called us to be about His Kingdom — especially by bringing people in, building them up, and helping them to serve others.  We hope and pray you feel the Lord leading you to become more involved with His Kingdom here at Vansickle Baptist. If you have already been a guest with us, here are the next steps to get involved.

Bringing people in.

// MAKE A COMMITMENT TO CHRIST. Ever wonder what it really means to be a Christian? There are a lot of confusing messages out there. We want to help you discover who Jesus is and how to follow Him. We invite you to sit down and talk with us about this life-changing decision.  If you’d feel more comfortable reading up on it yourself, feel free to read about God’s plan for salvation and then follow up with us any decisions you reach.

// MAKE YOUR COMMITMENT TO CHRIST PUBLIC. We are called to make our decision public before men (Matthew 10:32-33).  You are always welcome to come meet with the pastor in office hours or during the invitation time during the worship service and share any spiritual decisions regarding your life.  One of the best ways to make your decision public is through baptism!

// FOLLOW IN BELIEVERS BAPTISM.  Baptism is an outward expression of the internal change Christ makes in our lives. Romans 6 tells us just as Christ has died and has been raised to life, so have you, if you have committed your life to Christ! Baptism represents the death of your old life (going under the water) and the new life Christ gave you through faith (being raised out of the water.)  If you are interested in being a candidate for baptism, come speak with the pastor during the invitation portion of the worship service.

// JOIN THE CHURCH. Church membership is commonly misunderstood these days. We look at the word member and think of our local country club or Costco. However, the Bible doesn’t use the term in the same way. One clear picture the Bible gives us of church membership is in 1 Corinthians 12. He explains we are all members of one body, the church, in which Christ is the head. Members are important parts of the body and each has an important role to play.

We would love to talk with you about what it means to follow Christ and join our fellowship, Vansickle Baptist.  The New Member & Guest Luncheon is the best place to learn more about what church membership means, the vision of Vansickle Baptist, and discover how you play an important role here. We have them on a quarterly basis.  Email or call the church for more information or to RSVP for the next one.

Building people up.

// ATTEND A SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDY. We believe spiritual growth happens in the context of community, so getting connected can make all the difference. We all crave a sense of belonging, to be a part of something greater than ourselves. That’s why finding a group is so important. You can find out more information about our small group bible studies here.

// ATTEND A DISCIPLESHIP STUDY. We have seasonal bible studies that explore deeper issues and allow for more concentrated discussions on particular topics. You will want to check regularly with our Ladies Ministry and Men’s Ministry about their upcoming and current bible studies.

// PARTICIPATE IN WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY. We have activities on Wednesday night for all ages.  Our Adults meet in the fellowship hall for a less formal worship service and bible study. Our teens meet together in the Student Ministry, and have a service that is more targeted toward youth.  Our kids, pre-teens, and even youth participate in the AWANA program where they are challenged to memorize scripture and learn more about God’s word.  Our nursery is open, too, and we have a great staff of workers ready to love on our babies and toddlers.   Because of the craziness of the work week, we do try to make things a little easier for families on Wednesday night by offering a delicious and reasonably priced meal — we only ask that you sign up on the Sunday before so we have an accurate head count.  It is $3 per person, with a $12 max per family.

Helping people to serve others.

// SERVE IN A MINISTRY. We believe every Christian should be a contributor not just a consumer. In fact, Christ models this in Mark 10:45 saying that He came “not to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.” If you’re ready to join one of our awesome ministry teams, we would love to have you. Let us know you are ready to serve.  If you’re unsure about where / how to plug-in, you can also complete our SHAPE profile.

// GIVE TO THE CHURCH. We serve a generous God. Everything that we have belongs to Him and we want to be good stewards. We believe our attitude towards money and possessions matters. That’s why we want to be wise and generous with both.

// LOVE THE WORLD. We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to change our homes, communities, and our world. We love having Gospel conversations and reaching our world through evangelism and missions. Everyone has a mission field.  We’d love to hear stories of you sharing your faith with friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. You may be surprised at how God chooses to use your story.  If that’s a little too intimidating, then just try inviting them to attend a Sunday morning worship service.
