The Bible says that God created us and that we are both fearfully and wonderfully made! It is not by accident that you are who you are.
Job 10:8 reminds us, “[God] Your hands shaped and made me…” (NIV)
Psalm 139:14-16, informs us that God was very intentional when you were formed within the womb. But God’s design doesn’t stop in the womb; He continues throughout our lives shaping us and molding us into the kinds of people who will honor Him. Isaiah 64:8 says, “You, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. ”
So… believe it or not, God has made you just the way you are, with certain gifts, desires, abilities, a unique personality and unique experiences so that you can be all that he has created you to be, and do all that he has created you to do.
Understanding how you have been shaped in each of these areas is key to understanding and ultimately fulfilling God’s unique purpose for your life.
As a tool to help in this process we use the acronym, S.H.A.P.E., and encourage each person to discover their unique SHAPE.
- S. Spiritual Gifts – What am I gifted to do?
- H. Heart – What do I love to do? What am I passionate about?
- A. Abilities – What natural skills and abilities do I have?
- P. Personality – Where does my personality best suit me to serve?
- E. Experiences – How do the unique experiences I’ve had prepare me to fulfill the purpose God has for me?
The Process
- Take the Test Online (or Download it for later here) — Simply follow the instructions provided for each section. Be honest. There is no pass or fail. The object is to find the best fit for you.
- Review and submit your results — After you finish scoring your personal info and test results, drop your profile off by the office.
